Classes Offered

Yoga in Sanskrit (an ancient language associated with India) to “yoke”, “union” or “discipline”. Yoga encompasses the broad range of physical, mental, and spiritual disciplines which also originated in ancient India. The goal of yogis thousands of years ago was to discover their “true” nature, to accept and embrace circumstance and to do so without expectation or attachment to results. Though time has passed and yoga has “evolved” in the Western World into a more “physical” practice – yogis today realize many of these same essential benefits.  One can take away from Yoga the benefits from what they chose; it can be physical, mental , spiritual or all of it, depending on what level one is at that time.  Yoga can be a road map for living an active, yet calm, healthier happy life.

BikYasa Hot Yoga:   This energizing, powerful class is a set sequence designed for all levels, beginner through advanced.  Class flows to music through a sequence of both balancing and energizing poses in a heated practice environment.  The room is a blend of heat and humidity, to warm your muscles and allow you to work deeper and safer.   Regardless of how you arrive for class, you will leave realizing the powerful wellness benefits of yoga, including a stronger, toned, more flexible body .  You will discover you have an improved state of mind, encouraging relaxation, self-acceptance and awareness.

We understand the healing aspect of heat.  “In a yoga class, you practice poses that require stretching and compression of the joints, muscles, ligaments and other supporting structures of the body. Your body naturally protects itself from physical exertion by generating heat from the inside muscles outwards. We start with the heat up front…providing that extra protection from the very first poses. Another added benefit is that your body burns fat more effectively. It’s not uncommon for our students practicing regularly to lose inches of shape in a relatively short time”.

Inferno Hot Pilates (IHP) – 60 minutes & IHP Express/45 minutes:  This class is intended to help you dig deep within and build your physical strength.  Using Pilates principles, IHP is a full body, high intensity, yet low impact workout.  All levels are invited to join this party.  It is performed on a yoga mat in a room heated to 90 degrees and 50% humidity, with loud funky fun music that makes you want to move.  High focus on building core (abdomen) strength…all while you’re burning fat!  Each class will be its own unique creation designed by IHP teachers.  This is definitely a class you should take.  You will love the way you feel and blending it with yoga classes is the absolute best!  Bands and weights may be used, the studio will provide them.  Or you are welcome to bring your own.

Hot Vinyasa Flow – 60 minutes:  This beautifully designed class will flow you through traditional sun salutations, warrior poses & side angles, while detoxifying your body with gentle twists. In a room filled by the amazing heat & humidity that you have come to love at expect at Some Like It Hot Yoga.  Familiar poses will be linked with new ones in an intelligent sequence that will vary from class to class.  Proper alignment will be pointed out along the way.  Class will end with an opportunistic time to let go, enjoying the place that your mind and body are in….and breathe through a short meditation. Amaaazing!   Leave the class feeling relaxed, rejuvenated…and of course, sweaty!

Though classes are designed to optimize physical health by waking and energizing the entire body, Some Like it Hot Yoga stresses that the greatest benefit comes not as much from the healing of the body, but from the healing of the mind. The simple pleasure and self-reward that comes from quieting our minds, listening to each breath and honoring where are bodies are in stillness or movement cannot be measured. You do not measure your yoga practice by how many perfectly aligned poses you can perform, but by how deep you can immerse yourself inwards. It’s amazing how a simple downward dog can be felt so differently by any student on any given day and still provide a feeling of connection, balance and satisfaction regardless of the depth it’s practiced. This is the true beauty of yoga and it awaits every student who is ready let go of the ego and begin listening to their own deeper wisdom and inner voice.

We encourage all students – newcomers and experienced students alike – to begin and maintain a consistent practice regardless of the style preferred. You’ll benefit from class by your effort regardless of how far or deep you get. As long as you are feeling it and you are breathing calmly, you’re practicing correctly.

We believe that the healing of the mind is the greatest benefit of yoga. The positive impact yoga has on one’s body and health is a bonus.
